CenterWest is an $800 million development slated to bring 3.2 million SF of residential and commercial space to Baltimore’s Poppleton neighborhood. The multi-phase project will redevelop more than 30 acres of this historically blighted community, mirroring a widespread renaissance in the greater West Baltimore area. The first phase of the project included construction of two mid-rise mixed-use buildings, Avra and Cirro. Opened in 2018, the state-of-the-art apartment complexes feature 300 total units, modern amenities, walkable outdoor spaces, parking, and 18,000 SF of ground-floor retail. CEI provided full structural, civil, and landscape architecture designs for the $12 million phase one project, which included two podium buildings, streetscaping, stormwater management and erosion/sediment control, a green roof, and new utility services.
- To create a walkable, main street setting, our landscape architect provided designs for street plantings and site designs for upper-level outdoor courtyards with pools and lounge spaces.
- Structural designs included apartments above a first-floor concrete transfer podium reinforced with conventional rebar. Below-grade garage space also features concrete framing.
- CEI provided updates to an existing Stormwater Management Master Plan. New water quality devices included micro-bioretention facilities, a green roof, and sand filters.
