Founded in 1942, Bais Yaakov of Baltimore is an all-girls Jewish Day School that operates two campuses in Maryland and serves 1,450 students. With its student population steadily growing, Bais Yaakov undertook a new building initiative in 2016 to expand the existing middle school at its 26-acre campus on Smith Avenue in Baltimore. Carroll Engineering provided structural designs for a new 44,000-SF annex building, which opened on-time and under budget in 2018. The 3-story Mrs. Laure Gutman Building provides space for middle school classrooms, offices, conference rooms, daycare facilities, a learning center, and a large multi-purpose area.
Our previous experience with the Bais Yaakov School includes structural designs for the adaptive reuse of an existing building as the Rabbi Benjamin Steinberg Middle School, as well as plans to construct the 87,000-SF Eva Winer High School, which opened in 2003.
