CCBC Catonsville Campus Power Upgrade

In 2017, the Community College of Baltimore County undertook a project to upgrade power and gas distribution systems at the Catonsville campus in order to replace aging infrastructure. Work included electrical conduit, gas lines, and associated above-ground equipment. Our team prepared designs for new electrical ductbanks from the existing switchgear to several existing manholes. To accommodate the new ductbanks, our landscape architect advised on the clearing and replacement of trees and vegetation. The project required coordination with Baltimore County for permitting and site plans review. CEI provided full civil and landscape architectural services, including utility routing and connections, site restoration plantings, and permitting through Baltimore County.

Highlights

  • Site designs included new electrical ductbanks, new gas lines, and a new transformer and pad.
  • Underground utility work included horizontal geometry, routing, and trenching.
  • Site restoration included pavers, sidewalks, new plantings, and the replacement of significant trees that were removed.
