Project

ABC Park

As part of a redevelopment of the Carrollton Ridge neighborhood in West Baltimore, Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks undertook a project to renovate ABC Park to create a safe, welcoming, and interactive green space for the community. CEI coordinated with BCRP to provide civil engineering and landscape architecture designs for the complete redevelopment of the park. Opened in 2019, the upgraded neighborhood recreation space includes a children’s play fountain at the front entrance, a large modular play set and other playground equipment, walking paths, a basketball court, a baseball diamond, and a community center with an exterior plaza and seating. CEI provided full civil and landscape architectural designs for the 2-acre site, including demolition of a majority of the existing buildings and infrastructure on the site, entrance plantings, stormwater management and erosion/sediment control, and ADA accessibility.

Highlights

  • Site designs included plans to route new utilities to serve the interactive fountain feature.
  • LA designs included site plantings, stormwater management plantings, decorative pavers, and a Forest Stand Delineation submitted to Baltimore City.
  • The area of disturbance was approximately 1 acre, with a majority of the site consisting of pervious surfaces. We placed a stormwater management pond at the edge of the property to treat runoff.
