Eager Park

Opened in 2017, Eager Park is a new, 6-acre open recreational space located in East Baltimore. Spanning three city blocks, the park is part of a comprehensive community revitalization effort led by East Baltimore Development Inc. Eager Park provides athletic fields, walking and cycling trails, a community garden, and open spaces and infrastructure to accommodate large crowds and vendors for local events. Bounded on three sides by city roadways and crossing over two city streets, the park presented major site challenges for pedestrian circulation. Site designs included ADA accessible walkways and boardwalks, multi-use trails, stormwater management, and a storm drain layout. Structural designs for park amenities included a 4,000-SF multipurpose facility, multiple open-air pavilions, and an amphitheater. CEI provided full civil and structural engineering for the successful completion of the new community space.

Highlights

  • To allow for proper drainage of the open athletic fields and green spaces, we provided a storm drain layout and installation to provide runoff conveyance to the public storm drain system.
  • Structural designs included concrete and steel framing, reinforced concrete footings, retaining walls, and a demountable tent to be used for seasonal events.
