MSD Elementary School, Frederick

Client:  Maryland School for the Deaf
Location:  Frederick, MD

CEI completed structural designs for a 48,000 square foot elementary school, 12,000 square foot student support services buildings and a 16,300 square foot intervention center inter-connected by breezeways. These buildings are the center piece of the recently developed south campus. Our structural services included the design and preparation of structural framing and foundation plans, coordination with the geotechnical engineer, stepped footings because of site grades and foundation walls for the lower level mechanical room. Structural support loads were increased since the facility had stringent noise attenuation requirements such as additional insulation, vibration dampers for HVAC equipment and thicker roof decking.
