MCTC Steamline Mechanical Room Additions

Location:  Washington County, MD

CEI evaluated the planned expansion of six mechanical rooms and determined it to be structurally feasible even though the excavation for the construction was as much as 13 feet deep and, given the amount of existing construction and utilities in the area, was shored rather than open cut and be supported by new caisson foundations. CEI designed each mechanical room addition which consisted of cast-in-place concrete, egress stairways and minimum above-ground height for security purposes. Structures included a reinforced bottom slab, reinforced concrete walls and top concrete slab over a composite metal deck supported on steel beams.
