Guilford Avenue Parking Garage

Site:  Downtown Baltimore City
Client:  Baltimore City Department of Public Works
Location:  Baltimore City, MD

CEI completed a structural physical condition assessment of this 3-level parking garage. Our professional staff visually reviewed the condition of the entire deck, ramp, wall and column areas. We also performed a hammer test to “sound” hollow/deteriorated sections of concrete and measured slab and ramp slopes with a digital M-D Building Product Level. We noted damages throughout, but the type and amount varied from level to level. Our staff photographed the existing conditions and damaged areas, then evaluated the extent of damages using in-house computer programs. Because of the noted severe spalling on the second level deck, E2CR completed core drilling, corrosion test and concrete material tests using a Half-cell potentiometer. The structure and geotechnical report were analyzed to current code regulations and a final structural report was prepared. Baltimore City DPW contacted us after the final report was issued for assistance in the preparation of a capital improvement project planning and funding to repair/upgrade the garage.
