Black Bridge Road Bridge Replacement

Site:  Fair Hills Natural Resource Management Area
Client:  Maryland Department of Natural Resources
Location:  Cecil County, MD

CEI completed construction documents to replace a single-lane bridge and restore both stream banks damaged by Hurricane Floyd. Maryland Department of Natural Resources, owner of Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area, specified the need for the new bridge to be 12' wide, 140' clear span. The "L-shaped" abutment walls conformed to SHA standard detail and consisted of reinforced concrete mix 6 - 5,000 psi strength, with #6 reinforcing bars every 12" on center. Both abutments were shelved 1' and doweled into bedrock for horizontal stability. Our anchor plate design and overall truss depth dimension was based on Steadfast Bridge CAPSTONE model.
