Health Care for the Homeless
Site: Fallsway & Hillen Street
Client: RECMP, LLC
Location: Baltimore City, MD
CEI completed a variety of civil engineering services for the construction of a 56,639 gross-square-foot clinic, which offers comprehensive health services to thousands of homeless individuals each year. Partially located within the 100-year flood plain, the 0.47-acre site required approval of a joint permit application prior to construction. In order to determine easements for existing triple culverts along Fallsway, CEI coordinated with the City Storm Drain Department, and our team also worked alongside BGE to complete designs for a 113-kv twin-pipe electrical service along Front Street. Further engineering services for the facility included fine grading, two concrete entrances, a surface-level parking area for 14 vehicles and an exterior 40-foot-long metal handicap accessible ramp. CEI also obtained stormwater management water quality approval and prepared Developer Agreement plans for sanitary, water and storm drain utility services. The Health Care for the Homeless facility features an environmentally sound green roof, for which our staff completed runoff computations, and exterior landscaping including streetscaping along Hillen Street, planters along Fallsway and a shrub area at Fallsway parking entrance, all designed by CEI.
